When does A Logging Operator Lose Its OPL Status?
An OPL company remains in good standing until one or more of the following deficiencies occur, which would remove their OPL status:
- Delinquent annual enrollment (fees or dues)
- Delinquent annual credit requirement
- Sanctioned after conduct discredits OPL Program
- Resign voluntarily from program
If by January 1, an OPL logging operator has not remained enrolled and completed 10 maintenance credits during the previous calendar year; the logging operator will become delinquent and be removed from the OPL Directory. To reinstate its OPL status, a delinquent logging operator must complete all delinquent credits, and pay any unpaid enrollment fees or dues.
In the rare event where an OPL logging operator might flagrantly violate sustainable forestry principles, the OPL Program has a sanctions process. Repeated or egregious Forest Practices Act civil penalty rulings are examples that could initiate a sanctions review.
An OPL Operations Review Committee determines on a case-by-case basis appropriate remedial action, up to and including termination of the company's OPL status.
